Biography

​Prof. Camilo Mora is a professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, USA. He obtained his PhD in biology from the University of Windsor, Canada. His interconnected lines of inquiry focus on understanding how biodiversity patterns are generated and modified by human activities. Specifically, his work investigates patterns of biodiversity, assesses potential biodiversity threats, and evaluates conservation strategies. Members of his team work on a range of topics, including environmental drivers of biodiversity patterns in the abyssal plains of the world, drivers of coral reef disease outbreaks in the Pacific Ocean, and modelling species’ responses to climate change.
