Research Interests

He received his Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the Ocean University of China in Qingdao in 2011. During his undergraduate years, he studied the biodiversity of macro-benthic fauna in the rocky intertidal zone of Dagong Island, a few kilometers away from Qingdao coastlines. He received his Master’s in Marine Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2013 where he wrote his thesis on the natural hybridization frequencies of flatfish species in Trondheimfjord, Norway.

In spring 2014, Song joined the Reef Ecology Lab as a PhD student, where he studies the natural hybridization of coral reef fishes.​
