Research Interests

I am investigating the role of epigenetics in influencing the resilience of marine organisms (e.g. corals, sea anemones and the symbiotic algae Symbiodinium) in response to global warming and ocean acidification. I am also involved in several genome projects, decoding mysteries such as presence of functional miRNAs in two sponges and horizontally-transferred genes in sea anemones. I designed and maintain a data portal (reefgenomics.org) for other researchers to easily access the data produced by our genome projects.
