Research Interests

I would like to understand nutrient cycling in the Red Sea with emphasis on the nitrogen cycle. In particular, I am looking into identifying key diazotrophs involved with nitrogen fixation processes in Red Sea open-ocean system, by combining -omics approaches with novel cultivation methods. My study will consist of seasonal and monthly time-series data of nitrogen fixation in the Red Sea, as well as data sets from various other oceans in the world.
