The proposed research will investigate the response of coral reef species and associated fauna to contaminants. This research will assess molecular tools to study the responses of coral species to stressors investigated physiological responses using a combination of lab- and field-based experiments. The research may also investigate the application of transcriptomics to identify genes that are differentially expressed in response to stressors and the utility of mitigation methods for restoring coral species following bleaching events. The candidate should have experience in conducting marine field research, some experience with molecular techniques and general marine benthic ecology expertise.
