Research Interests

​My research interests focus on the metagenomic analysis of human bacterial pathogens in the marine environment and on the role of seagrass in reducing sea water contamination. I am interested in human pathogens in marine environments and, in particular, in the global distribution of bacteria in the ocean. Currently, my work focuses on the influence of the seagrass ecosystem on the Red Sea and specifically on how seagrass reduces microbial pathogen contamination. I aim to detect bacterial pathogens by analyzing their 16S sequences and metagenomics data and to use this data to determine the abundance and distribution of human pathogens in oceans globally.
