Research Interests

I use passive seismology to investigate rifting systems and I am particularly interested in the tectonic systems that are “collateral” to the rifts (e.g., transform faults and off-rift tectonics). My study areas are the East African Rift and the Red Sea rift.

I am currently running seismic networks along the eastern coast of the Gulf of Aqaba (GAST network), in the Zabargad Fracture zone and Al Wajh lagoon (ZAFRAN network, it includes 12 ocean bottom seismometers), and in the Harrat Lunayyir (LUNDEEP network).
