Research Interests
My research aims to characterize the impacts of UV-B radiation on key Red Sea biota, encompassing keystone species in benthic (macroalgae, corals) and pelagic (phytoplankton, larvae) habitats. Data from field observations and field and laboratory experiments will be used to assess impacts of UV radiation at multiple levels: molecular, cellular, physiological, organismal, holobiont and population level. I further aim to elucidate complex interactions mediated by UV light for selected Red Sea organisms, focusing on UV-driven constraints on organismal life history, as well as possible benefits of UV-B exposure.
