Biography

Dr. Alison Green is a senior marine scientist with The Nature Conservancy. Alison has 20 years' experience providing scientific advice for coral reef conservation and management. Her areas of expertise include: designing resilient networks of marine protected areas for biodiversity conservation, fisheries enhancement and climate change adaptation; and coral reef fish ecology, assessment and monitoring.

Alison has provided scientific advice and training to field practitioners in designing networks of marine managed areas at the regional, national, ecoregional and local scales in over 20 countries worldwide (in Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, West Indian Ocean, Latin America and the Caribbean).

Alison has a Ph.D. in marine biology from James Cook University of North Queensland. Prior to joining The Nature Conservancy, she was Director of Science, Technology and Information at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority in Australia. Currently, she is providing scientific advice for designing marine protected area networks in tropical marine ecosystems worldwide.
