Associate Prof. Cathy Lucas: Talk title "Towards an understanding of population variability in scyphozoan jellyfish – the role of life histories"
BIO: Dr. Cathy Lucas is an Associate Professor in marine ecology in Ocean & Earth Science at the University of Southampton, based in the National Oceanography Centre Southampton, UK. She has a broad range of interests in coastal and shelf sea ecosystems structure and function. Her research centres around the ecology of gelatinous zooplankton; the causes and consequences of jellyfish population variability and blooms events; and reproduction and life history strategies of jellyfish. A particular focus in recent years has been the ecology of scyphozoan polyps and their role in the formation and maintenance of jellyfish populations.
