FlowCAM is used for morphological analysis of particles (size, shape, etc.), namely the cells composing zooplankton. In addition, fluorescence can be used to further discriminate cell types similar to a flow cytometer.
Applications: monitoring harmful algal blooms (HAB); characterization of phytoplankton and zooplankton assemblages.
