Research Interests
Carolina Bocanegra is a biological research technologist who thrives working in various laboratories throughout her twenty-year career. The experience she gained working with diverse cultures and backgrounds is invaluable.
Before joining Molecular Profiles, she was involved in the Public Health Laboratory of Risaralda, Colombia, for nine years, where she gained experience in Microbiology, Virology, Emerging Infectious Diseases, and Immunology. Thanks to this, she has experience working with live viruses of high virulence in biocontainment laboratories.
Carolina then moved to Canada, and she started a new chapter in her carrier working on her primary interest the molecular biology and genetics, Carolina joined McGill University and the Genome Quebec Innovation Center, where she worked to provide complete services of DNA, RNA, and proteomics analysis on Next-Generation Sequencing platforms.
In 2016 she joined the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), where she has the opportunity to serve as a member of the production sequencing team and participates in various projects using manual and automated setup methods for Illumina next-generation sequencing platforms, running on HiSeq 2500, MiSeq, NovaSeq6000, and also 10X single-cell sequencing.
In 2021, at KAUST, She has the opportunity to be surrounded by passionate researchers and leaders in the field of marine biology to understand the rich ecology of the Red Sea.
