Research Interests

Principally an observational biological oceanographer and marine ecologist, her main interests are the interconnections between physical dynamics, biogeochemistry, and biology, engaging in coastal and open Marine Ecosystem, ocean health, and global change impact studies. Her specific areas of expertise and present interests include physical dynamics and its influence to biogeochemistry and biology, Ecology of primary producers, microalgal taxonomy, coastal Marine Ecosystem and ocean health, HABs events, integration of new observational and forecasting technologies using novel instruments and sensors, pigments, photo-physiology and measurements of photosynthetic performance and light-adaptation states.
