Research Interests

Since childhood, Fatma has seen science as a magic that has captured her attention. She grew up and her curiosity grew. She believes that DNA is a biological black hole that represents a mysterious beauty where we must discover its secrets. She has always wanted to be one of the people deciphering this biological code to solve the problems facing the world. The main of which is global warming and its impact on marine life at the cellular and genetic level.

She found herself belonging to the life of research, and began to build her steps until she reached KAUST, which represents a home for every scientist. Fatima hopes that her knowledge and experience at KAUST will contribute to improving marine life and 2030 vision. So, she eagerly seeks to understand the complex relationship between environmental factors especially heat stress and epigenetic changes. And how we can take advantage of them to improve marine life, especially coral reefs.
