Research Interests

Juan Fernando's interests revolve around the study of marine ecosystems and organisms, especially coral reef fish. He is particularly interested in understanding how the different roles that fish play in reefs contribute to the resilience and productivity of these ecosystems. Also, Juan is interested in the evolution of the different life history strategies of coral reef fishes and he would like to explore and use molecular tools that would provide a deeper and more complete understanding of the coral reef's functioning.
