Research Interests

Malte's research currently focuses on identifying antagonistic factors to improve coral holobiont health with the aim of preventing coral bleaching. He is especially interested in factors affecting nitrogen pathways like nitrogen fixation and denitrification. To study a potential beneficial effect of these factors, Malte is investigating the coral holobiont as well as the coral physiology under temperature stress.
